I have a couple of broken bones in my left ankle due to a fall. I think these fractures are aligned/not displaced but they are not healing property despite all my best efforts over the past 2 months. Has anyone here had any experience with a bone stimulator to help fractured bones heal? Does anyone know if the Americans with Disabilities Act require employers to let me come back to work (I have been off work since June 23) with crutches/wheelchair/knee walker etc.? I have tried to consume more protein and calcium, and have tried to not bear any weight on that foot as much as I can. I also got a cam boot/walker for that foot. Still I have pain from that foot everyday. The bone stimulator (EXOGEN) is on its way to me hopefully. 20 minutes a day with it just doesn't seem to be enough--I would like to have it on 8 hours a day, as this injury makes me concerned that I might not be able to hold onto my job if I am gone too long and I might not be able to walk again.

(176,860 posts)If you've been walking around on a broken ankle, you may have done additional damage. You may need surgery.
I speak from experience. I fractured my ankle last November. Went to the hospital, had surgery, then spent three months in a rehab facility so I'd stay off my feet and get PT. I'm still working on the walking.
Now I'm locking this thread as it violates the group's statement of purpose.
Good luck.
