With the new variant it seems like mixing and matching might be the best way to handle small changes to the protein spikes so that you get a wider reaction.

No real side effects for myself or the wife who both did the same mix and match.

The more I listen to researcher, it seems like whatever booster you choose will work. For me, the added piece of mind of potential immune response makes me more confident that the cocktail will protect me from serious illness.

Arm is sore which is much more of a reaction than I got with the JJ dose so taking that as good news.

This from John Hopkins:

Does my COVID booster or additional dose have to be the same brand that I got before?
No, you can mix and match brands. The FDA has authorized three vaccine boosters — Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson — and determined that it is safe to get a COVID-19 vaccine booster or additional dose that is a different brand than your initial dose or doses. If you get the Moderna booster, you will receive half of the original Moderna dose. Please be sure to confirm this with the person giving you this shot.

I do have a cold since arriving in South Lake Tahoe on Monday. Change in climate throughout the state of California since Oct.31st finally caught up with me. Warm and sunny in the south, nice in the Bay Area, to snowy and cold in the North.

Stuffed sinuses, lots of blowing my nose, sneezing, a little tiredness for which long naps help, plenty of fluids, vitamins, decent nutrition. A 5 day drive coming up to home.

Side effects from the Moderna dose were considerably stronger, but not overwhelming. Soreness in the injected arm in both cases. But the Moderna shot also brought 24 hours of feeling lethargic and a low-level headache.

All in the rear-view now, however. Still Covid-free!

...after two shots of Pfizer. Had shoulder soreness for a day and a half, which was what I had after the first Pfizer shot.

Be well!

All that was available at Rite Aid on that day was Moderna. No real ill effects if that is what you are asking.

I had rough days after each Pfizer, but wow the booster dose of Moderna, even at it’s half rate knocked me out for a few days.

All I can figure is that my body is on the job!

I like the idea of having slightly different booster. But 50 micrograms is still more than the 30 in Pfizer.
