5 Omicron symptoms that are more common now than the 'classic' COVID signs

https://www.livemint.com/news/world/5-omicron-symptoms-that-are-more-common-now-than-the-classic-covid-signs-11662462955887.html

If you think that loss of sense and smell or shortness of breath are the indicators that you have contracted COVID then you can't be more wrong. Over past years as the coronavirus has mutated, the symptoms related to the infection have also changed. Though the symptoms related to the virus are stated to be milder now, it is extremely essential to understand what you are dealing with and identify the early signs of the disease.

Here are the 5 symptoms that appear early on:

Fatigue:
For COVID patients, this is not about just feeling tired but, the person feels completely wiped out even after taking enough rest. This hampers their daily routine like difficulty in climbing stairs and other routine chores. Some may also find it difficult to concentrate due to this fatigued state.

Headache:
COVID headaches are said to be moderate to severely painful, feel ‘pulsing’, ‘pressing’ or ‘stabbing’, occur across both sides of the head rather than in one area. And this state lasts for about 3 to 4 days. Experts say that today, COVID headaches are more common than the classic COVID symptoms.

Sore throat:
One of the earliest symptoms of COVID, this appears within the first week of contracting the infection. Usually, this symptom lasts for two to three days but for some, it may linger for a few more days. However, a sore throat in case of COVID can be extremely painful and uncomfortable.

Fever:
In most cases, fever is the indicator that you have COVID, followed by a cough and muscle pain. Usually, it stays for 3 to 4 days.

Digestive disorder:
In recent times, many who have contracted COVID reported gut health-related issues, and for some it has been the earliest sign. It is therefore advised to not take symptoms like diarrhea for granted as you assume it could be happening from eating something improper.

but I'm not sure how reliable the numbers are now.
Do you have a place you trust for accurate data?

I'm working in home health and I'm astounded by the number of co-workers who are saying there is no spread of COVID.

But ever hear of a columnist named or pseudonym Marilyn Vos Savant? Supposedly she had the highest score on some IQ or Mensa test. Someone thought it would be a good idea to give her a Q&A column. One time she went on a "rant" about how soap doesn't really kill germs. Just goes to show the ability to solve puzzles doesn't necessarily = "smarts".

from the start of this thing.

Have you checked out Japan and S Korea? Scary! And Japan is one of the best countries as far as masking goes. They must not be using the N95 types. I have seen them wear cheap surgical masks that suck against Covid so I am surprised they aren't encouraging the correct masks to their citizens.

Age 72. Had a sore throat one day in mid July. Took my temp. Slight fever. Did a quick Covid test. Positive. Tested again with a different test kit. Positive. Called my doctor and got a scrip for Paxlovid.

Two days of sore throat, fever max of 101.8F, achy, dry cough. Pretty much normal after those two days. Did the whole five day Paxlovid regimen. Stayed isolated for a week.

Fully vaxxed (Pfizer) double boosted, last booster April 4, 2022. Hoping to get the new booster soon.w

be getting the next booster and flu shot together. It sounds like you had the flu but the test was the real answer. I just got more free ones in the mail. Did you have to go to the doctor's office while sick or did he send the Rx without having to see you?

The two positive results on two different rapid tests was good enough for her. There are very few false positives according to Google. She called in the scrip for Paxlovid and I asked a friend to pick it up for me so I could start as soon as possible. According to the NYT, it is recommended that you wait 4 - 6 months after your last booster or infection before getting the new booster. That will be about December 1 for me.
