I think they're only beginning to understand all the things it does, another leftover hangup from men's medicine considering female parts icky doodle, even if they specialized in them.

(113,130 posts)but they're still not really clear on what it does beyond allow women to enjoy sex, the sluts.
(do I really need that sarcasm thingy here?)
There is some hint in the literature about how rapid, rhythmic contractions during orgasm help propel semen into the uterus, but that's still a lot of real estate for only one function.

(6,017 posts)The clitoris & penis are the same body part; one was just signaled in utero to grow a bit bigger & the urethra migrated so the exit is at the end of it rather than the base. When performing surgeries on such parts to effectively reverse that process, it's really important to know where the various structures and parts are and what their functions are. And the same of course for the "opposite" surgery.
Maybe they should be invited to the conferences mentioned in the linked article. Then again, maybe the problem isn't one of lack of scientific knowledge, but priority of learning...

(119,679 posts)FOR WOMEN".
Patriarchy and woman-hating in one sentence. I am reminded of a gynecologist I saw once, who said I couldnot be experiencing pain, because there were no nerve endings there. I stopped the exam, walked out of the room, and told women in thevwaiting room to run for their lives. If I had known about DORA way back then, or had there been review sites (this was pre-internet) I would have reported him. As it was, I spread the word ( one should not piss off someone who belongs to as many feminist organizations as I did!)
Thank you so much for this most important article. The WAR ON WOMEN continues apace.

A scene from "Shirley Valentine", one of my favourite movies.
