You can call them to speed up the enrollment a little but it sometimes takes a few months to process and begin coverage either way, you’ll probably get a letter from social security once your eligibility is determined

Those departments definitely need better funding and staffing in the right places to increase efficiency of enrollments/decisions/notices, our population is going to keep aging and they deserve as much support as the military budget (same goes for the VA… honestly we need to roll a lot of these disparate social services into one department, the fragmentation and voluminous policy and rule books are a cancer on our social services in this country, it’s no wonder social workers and the rest in there have been so exhausted)

But, after the social security notice and enrollment, yes, you get the card in the mail

I’ve been lucky to hit a recent patch of remission again, here’s hoping both of us get to be and stay healthy, having Medicare is such a relief, I think you’ll be happy with the support they provide, just make sure not to fall for Medicare Advantage plans which can reduce coverage and can prevent you from switching back to classic, so I highly recommend choosing and sticking with ‘classic’ when you’re asked and buying secondary private plans for things like dental and vision etc until classic Medicare is expanded

Everyone of them have a catch.
They aren't spending all of that money sending out mail to save YOU money.
