Related: About this forumHeads up. Re. Pfizer booster vaccine/Covid
I had my 2023 booster Saturday afternoon. Less than six months after the last booster in May.
I had a reaction, a side effect that I want to share.
I woke up the next morning (Sunday) with both legs affected. They felt very stiff, very heavy. To walk, I had to use short steps with a fear of losing my balance. Bending was not an option. Stairs scared me. I felt like I had 20 pounds weights on each leg. I was hobbling.
It was still there yesterday (Monday). I called my doctor in the afternoon. He's done vascular surgery on both legs recently and I sounded him out if my legs issue was to be expected after surgery. He said no, but he did express concern about the vaccine's after effects.
This morning I woke up and the legs are fine. Just like that.
I know this won't affect the majority of Pfizer patients, but I also believe that sharing knowledge reduces fear and I hope to encourage anyone with similar situations to contact their medical professionals.

(2,922 posts)...fatigue, very low fever and fleeting mild nausea by Saturday. Rest and ibuprofen made all side effects disappear. No problems since.

(13,258 posts)Arms a little sore. Nothing else. Although every time a get a Covid shot I get a form of tinnitus for a few weeks crickets chirping in my ears. It goes away eventually.

(2,841 posts)When I had actual Covid I had a very painful day where there was excruciating pain in my jaw where I had a tooth pulled (back molar) a month prior.
Thankful you are better! Scary virus for sure.

(31 posts)Had my booster (Spikevax) yesterday morning around 10. No side effects until 9 hrs later. Started getting achy, and arm that got the shot really started aching. Had a pretty restless night - some chills, couldn't sleep on left side (injection side): right side a bit difficult because of arthritis in shoulder. Also some body aches and low energy. These side effects are similar, but less severe, than the ones I had with the second booster,
Frankly, I'm sick of getting "shot up"! Covid. Shingles, Flu. I know they help, but they are tarnishing my "Golden Years"!!

(1,895 posts)I had the booster and flu shot together, different arms. I got the 65 + flu.
Next day I was fine. Cleaning out the garden in the morning.
By the afternoon, my arm with the flu shot was red, puffy and hot touch.
Then I got the chills, went to bed and woke up at 10 pm & was fine
My covid arm was fine.

Im glad your reactions were short-lived! Thank you for sharing them.

(16,383 posts)was a little unsteady on my feet a couple times yesterday after standing up. It passed, but it did make me wonder if it was the booster. No other symptoms.

(18,995 posts)I had the newest Moderna Covid shot Fri. and so far, my only reaction was sore arm. Which has really improved by today.
Really glad your side-effect cleared up on its own.

(12,140 posts)and I'm glad you're better now. I've had only Pfizer vaccines, and the recent one was the 1st one where I didn't experience a problem afterward. Previously I felt tired the day after the shot.

(20,313 posts)Thursday I felt like I had the flu with body aches and possibly fever. Sore arm, too. All gone by Friday.

(2,653 posts)using the most recent "booster" including the new variants/sub-variants of the current most prevalent circulating virus. Anyway, I only had a very sore injection site and my arm was swollen, but I also had a flu vaxx at the same time. I had no reaction from either, except perhaps I was a little lethargic for a day. I had the RSV vaxx about a month prior and had more of a reaction to it than I've had to the prior two Covid boosters in '22 and the original first vaccination, but it was just mild lethargy and no fever.
