Blood, Sex & Royalty - Netflix
This is the story of Ann Boleyn, the 2nd wife of Henry the VIII. Its a mix between movie and documentary - and its very entertaining.
I didn't know much about her before watching this, but I learned that she was well ahead of her time on a lot of things. I thought of that phrase "Well behaved women rarely make history".
She was a rule-breaker and was punished for it - but she did have an impact.

(16,502 posts)There's a lot of paraphrasing of Anne and Henry's letters to today's language, and the dialog is also modernized and the actors sometimes speak directly to camera, which may be helpful to some viewers' understanding. Nevertheless, there's none of the "Anne Boleyn, scheming opportunist" interpretation here. I teach this stuff and honestly believe they come closest to the real woman and her relationship with the king.
