I am in love with Korean Videos

Who else? And what have you seen?

In my opinion they are excellent with detective stories, Their "villains" are well done they can be crazy scary. They are really good about showing both sides of a character. You often learn something else while watching them. For instance, if the character is a chef, you will watch him/her make delicious dishes. Their fantasies are well done and not like anything you would see on American made videos. They can very funny. Their love stories are heartwarming. Just do not be surprised at some of their endings, they can be actually surprising. Do not worry, almost all of them are subtitled and if you miss something you can always turn it back to see if you heard right or missed something.

Here are some of the ones I love, but I think they just scratch the surface;

Mr Sunshine
Bulgasi
Abyss
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
It's OK Not To Be OK
Stranger
Something In The rain
The King
The Good Detective
Alchemy For The Soul ~ OMG it is so good
I am starting Dr Cha, like it so far.
Uncanny Counter
Hotel DeLuna ~ OMG so good

I have noticed the Netflix have the most Korean videos. There are other networks but not near so many. My grandkids tease me because I have gotten to like subtitles so much, that even if the video is in English. I now like them on for the same reasons I run them back for Korean subtitles. Watching Koreans flicks is good exercise of opening my world. It has made me more interested in foreign films, so I have also branched out in other languages.

So yeah, anyone else have some good suggestions?

The two main actors, dated, got married and now have a baby. It makes this love story even more special.

Also, Squid Game is really violent, but very moving. A second season of Squid Game is coming in November.

There was one about a retired guy who was a foodie with a twist; he imagined himself as a wandering samurai looking for his next meal. Sorry I can't remember the title, but the description is pretty accurate if you come across it. Hilarious.

That show was also very good. I loved the episode when his wife send him out to buy chicken thighs and he disappeared for hours eating elsewhere.

...the back story about the chef on "The Midnight Diner." I always wondered how he got the scar on his cheek.

I LOVE the quirky characters that are his customers. I think I love the cross dresser the best, but the adult show lady was also one of the ones I really liked ~ and the one where the customer, married for decades, cheated on his wife after decades of marriage. the two pals who come there to sit, drink sake, and just people watch.

I honestly thought I would hardly find anyone on here that loved Korean videos. So K-Pop is not the only media coming over here. I guess that BTS is not just for the kids, lol. I should have seen it coming when a few years ago, my grandkids could sing along with "Gangham Style" ~ in Korean no less, right? As a grandma,my family are very amused because oh yeah and I do love BTS, they seem like nice kids.

I read about the young man in Mr Sunshine and he is from a wealthy family. Most of these actors have at least a masters in theater, from what I understand. Since going to college is expensive and most attend for professions like lawyers, doctors, and other professionals that create well paying careers, theater is something that mostly wealthy students can afford. I guess there is not any "finding future stars at the soda shop" over there. With the quality of their videos, you can see it.

Love, Cat

I've seen many of the series and films you've mentioned and readily endorse your recommendations. I'd like to suggest the following titles which are also very good.
1) My Name (netflix) excellent crime series but it can be a little vicious.
2) Little Forest (Tubi) a superb drama about a girl going home after a difficult time in Seoul.
3) Tomorrow (netfix) angels of death try to help individuals on Earth overcome traumatic events in their life. Tackles tough subject matter but a really good series
4) My Mister (netflix) an absolutely brilliant series about a troubled young woman and an older gentleman's evolving relationship. Starring the Korean kpop star IU who is terrific in this 16 part story. Highly recommended!
5)Space Sweepers (netflix) a fun and intriguing sci-fi romp.
6) Chocolate (Tubi) actually this is from Thailand and is a martial arts film but Jeeja is excellent in the lead role.
7) The Girl from Nowhere (netfix) another series from Thailand about a girl who transfers into another high school and, well, all hell breaks loose. Can be violent, absolutely creepy, and after two seasons still don't if she's the devils daughter or the physical manifestation of Karma.
Also check out the films: Parasite, Broker, Past Lives. Good hunting!

I've watched it more than once... very interesting how the young lady could adapt so quickly in changing situations. Her dad was pretty great too.

We have seen a lot more since then. We then added a Kocowa subscription to Prime and finally joined Viki so now the options are endless.

I’ll come back and add some more later! We lean toward romantic comedies.

Added: We really liked Backstreet Rookie
