Did anyone watch "The Tourist?"
What did you think? I enjoyed it, but it was pretty weird. I thought a lot of the peripheral characters were just off. It was almost like they were trying to make it a Wes Anderson or Tarantino film.
It's an Australian mystery series on Netflix.

(20,873 posts)The amnesia brought me into the challenge the guy faced. At times he was kind but then could be tough so it was hard to guess. The relationship with Helen Chambers was original. Loved her character.
I think there will be second season.
I'm learning about Australia's drug problem and the many countries involved in getting the drugs into the country. Their heroin problem started during the Viet Nam War when American vets went there with heroin from Viet Nam for their R&Rs.
Different and keeps me interested. I like the acting and the intrigue. Watching last 2 episodes tonight.

(2,014 posts)I did like it but I can't remember too many details. I see that a second season is about to start, so I'm going to have to do a recap watch I think. I do like the main actor--Jamie Dornan. I've seen him a few times on Graham Norton's show and he's really funny, in a self-deprecating kind of way.

(12,910 posts)Here's my review from 2022 when it aired on HBO Max, even though Netflix lists it as a 2024 series. Who are they trying to fool?

(558 posts)Well, took three days.
It reminded me a bit of "Fargo" with the interplay of quirky characters. Good humor amidst car chases, Godfather-like dialog, Psycho-like terror, and MadMax action. Women had strong lead roles. I'd never really heard of Jaime Dornan before this. He played a range of emotions well. Danielle McDonald was also superb. I liked their love interest. Her former boyfriend grew on me, along with his little friend. Glad I took a chance
