From wikipedia: Rustin is a 2023 American biographical drama film directed by George C. Wolfe, from a screenplay by Julian Breece and Dustin Lance Black, and a story by Breece about the life of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin.

Produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's production company Higher Ground, the film stars Colman Domingo in the title role, alongside Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald.

Colman Domingo is rightfully nominated in the Best Actor category, though the film deserves equal respect for it's fine production values as well as it's historical significance, especially considering that a lesser film like Past Lives (good film, but not Oscar material) is a nominee.

Rustin is currently streaming on Netflix. I highly recommended watching.

I remember hearing about Rustin - his was a familiar name during the '60s - but I didn't know anything about him. Very interesting story, definitely worth watching.

I think they already raised the number. I’m glad they make good movies. I’m sure Oppenheimer will win. lol. Not a hard prediction. Although we’ve been surprised before..

I'm waiting for a new biopic on Medgar Evers. There was a TV movie produced in 1983 but IMO it's time for a big Hollywood retelling. I read a biography on his life and career a few years back. It was amazing.

8. It was a great movie, beyond the cool topic.

I really enjoyed Rustin. And it was interesting to see how fast the idea was brought into action in spite of resistance from both the federal government and some of their own organizations.
