The Last Days of Ptolomy Grey
This is an extraordinary, must see show.
The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey stars Samuel L. Jackson as Ptolemy Grey, an ailing man forgotten by his family, by his friends, and by even himself. Suddenly left without his trusted caretaker and on the brink of sinking even deeper into a lonely dementia, Ptolemy is assigned to the care of orphaned teenager Robyn, played by Dominique Fishback. When they learn about a treatment that can restore Ptolemys dementia-addled memories, it begins a journey toward shocking truths about the past, present and future.
Samuel Jackson performance demonstrates a remarkable range and subtlety that isnt often on display in his previous work. The teenage caretaker, Dominique Fishback is a wonder. The chemistry between the two is a pleasure to watch.
The story, almost a tall-tale, was written by Walter Mosley, an author known for crime fiction. Several of his novels feature a detective named Easy Rawlins, one of which became a movie, Devil in a Blue Dress starring Denzel Washington. Mosley also served as a producer for Ptolemy.
