Netflix - "Dark" - has anyone watched it yet?

I found it engrossing but the dubbing didn't match the subtitles and the acting was a bit weird overall.

Hmm, I might have inadvertently put in a bit of a spoiler which has now been removed. Would be interested in getting anyone else's take on this series.

suggested keeping the dialogue in German and using subtitles. I admit it was distracting with the dubbing and the subtitles as the dialogue did not match up and the acting seemed flat at times and at other times didn't match up emotionally with how I thought the characters would sound.

It has a Twin Peaks kind of vibe if you like that. I liked the music, scenery and story line though again, at times the acting with the dubbing/subtitle combo took me out of it a bit.

because the mouth movements never match what's being said. I'll stick with the original language and subtitles every time. Plus, I know a little German. Also some French and Spanish and some isolated words of Russian. I always notice that the subtitles don't quite match exactly what is being said, but the two are never so far apart as to distort the meaning. Usually what's said in the original language is simply more complete, more interesting, or references something the English-speaking viewer might not understand.

I might take a look at it. Thanks.

I was very intrigued but when we found out what was going on, I had a little bit of a "oh, come on," response, though I do want to find out what happens with the boy . I have a few more episodes to go, and I'll keep going for now.

It was funny sometimes how they screwed up the dialogue - You took my fucking lipstick! vs You took my red lipstick! Something lost in translation

It made me realize that I have never once thought about how Germans are, how they relate and act. I have zillions of thoughts about French, Scandinavians, British, Russians. I was embarrassed to realize that I have never once, in 70 years, thought about Germans.

It took me some time to figure out the characters, but it is getting quite interesting.

The one problem I would be that some of the subtitles are too small to read.

I love foreign movies/series.

Thought it was a good time travel series. Had a hard time figuring out who all the characters were for the 1st few episodes. Printed out the family tree in Wikipedia and that helped a lot. Will be waiting for the 2nd season to debut at the end of next year.

I never watched Season 1. A friend just told me about the series so I've watched both seasons and am eager for Season 3.

I just read the article linked below where they reveal that a co-creator said that Season 3 will begin filming in several weeks.

There are **spoilers** for Seasons 1 & 2 in this linked article.

Glad I did, Series 2 was much easier to follow. Show continues to hold my interest. Don’t know how Jonas can exist with another Jonas in the same time period. I thought that was against the laws of time travel. Lol.😂

I felt the same while watching. I asked myself how can he be in the same place with himself?! Then it dawned on me that this is just the traditional fiction take on the matter. It's kind of cool that this series side steps all that. Without that restriction, possibilities for this story are wide open.

The friend who suggested the series said that she and her daughter had to watch season one again, too. Waiting that year or so was just too long for them to remember all the ins and out. I even had to pause the play once in a while to sort out the family relationships.
