Gwyneth Paltrow and Netflix Seal Deal as Goop Expands Original Content (EXCLUSIVE)
Goop, the lifestyle and wellness juggernaut founded a decade ago by Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, is expanding its original content efforts with a new docuseries at Netflix, an exclusive podcast partnership with Delta Airlines, and a slew of programming centered around beauty, food, and books.
Still untitled, Goops streaming series will hit Netflix this fall and consist of 30-minute episodes hosted by the sites editors, chief content officer Elise Loehnen and Paltrow. The team will utilize experts, doctors, and researchers to examine issues relating to physical and spiritual wellness.
We were speaking to the platform question, and where our people are. Theyre watching Netflix. Some of the more strategic, bigger stories we want to tell require a TV budget. Obviously, theres no better partner in that, Loehnen told Variety of the deal.
Loehnens content team of about 20 will work on shaping the series with Netflix, which she said seeks to dial up the aesthetics and quality of storytelling surrounding issues like mental, physical and sexual health and address larger thematic questions the Goop audience has about leading optimal lives. It doesnt hurt that Paltrow knows her way around a Hollywood set. The actress has appeared in over 40 films, including the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame.

Yes. FALSE ADVERTISING -2018

"Paltrow's Goop Agrees To Pay $145,000 To Settle False Advertising Lawsuit"
Guess that wasn't enough to deter Netflix.

(37,849 posts)4. Just putting this here (my favorite Goop slayer, Dr. Jen Gunter):
I reviewed all 161 of GOOPs wellness products for pseudoscience. Heres what I found.
Abstract
Objective: To identify evidence that Gwyneth Paltrow is correct in her statement that the website GOOP does not sell pseudoscience.
Materials and Methods: A search of the products sold on GOOP.com in the wellness section.
Results: Biologically implausible therapies and ill-researched products were identified. The majority of health products (90%) could not be supported by science.
Conclusions: There is no evidence to support Gwyneth Paltrows claim that goop is free of pseudoscience. In fact the opposite is true, goop is a classic example of pseudoscience profiteering. The bulk of their products are useless, but some could be harmful.
Keywords: jade, crystals, vagina, coffee, enema, supplements, toxins, medical conspiracy theories, Epstein Barr Virus, mediums, vitamin B12 injections
Introduction
In October 2018 Gwyneth Paltrow was interviewed by the BBC and disagreed that she and goop are engaged in promoting and peddling pseudoscience.
False online claims about health products and the promotion of pseudoscientific practices by both complementary and alternative medicine providers and celebrities has been well-described. Gwyneth Paltrow has previously endorsed therapies that have no scientific basis, such as vaginal jade eggs, apitherapy, and colonic administration of coffee via the rectum, so this researcher sought to identify any products sold by goop.com that could be considered pseudoscience to counter Gwyneth Paltrows belief.
