(21,731 posts)My love died last year that I adopted when he was 4 months and I was two months sober. My Mom had just died the month before. It was tough! But one day at a time and just doing the next right thing. I would talk to my dog on my walks and visualize him joyfully running and swimming. he had been in such pain for a long time.
I adopted a wild girl dog just before COVID lockdown. It’s been a wild ride but she has managed to enter my heart. I adore her now and she has calmed down somewhat. She is a very different dog but I found I have more love to give and receive.
I promise it will get better.

(24,719 posts)Their mantra: "One day at a time" does resonate with me. I've been sober for about a year and a half, and it really does get better. I still have my moments, but they seem to pop up less frequently. Hang in there! You can do it!

These addictions are incredibly difficult. I have discovered a new one for me, & I will discuss it later at length.
...Today is all we have..Hang In There..Please?
