Medical marijuana withdrawal and recovery

I used 10mg of edible medical marijuana every day for 4 years and 4 months. I used it as a pain reliever to help me sleep at night because of pain in my right hip.

Prior to using medical marijuana, I was rotating OTC pain relievers (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Aleve). I was concerned about overuse of OTC pain relievers, so I tried medical marijuana.

I quit consuming medical marijuana on February 15, 2024. After more than 4 years of use, it seemed to me that medical marijuana had disrupted my sleep. I gained weight because I think medical marijuana had affected my metabolism. When I was using, I consumed 10mg of edible medicinal marijuana every day for 4.5 years.

The main withdrawal symptom I am experiencing now is insomnia.

If you quit medical marijuana, how did your withdrawal and recovery go? How long did it take to fully recover?

Thanks

I stopped abruptly and went on hiatus from cannabis for about 25 years, beginning again roughly a year-and-a-half ago. I never felt any physical symptoms during hiatus, but it intruded into my dreams many times. I’m a daily user once more, none the worse for wear.

Never once experienced or even ever heard of pot withdrawals. That's the whole point of pot. And I've been on & off since the 60's.
But what did surprise me were the unexpected withdrawals I had from stopping coffee cold turkey. Now I drink only one cup a day & withdrawal muscle-aches stopped immediately.

i fell into a pretty deep depression, but slowly. i felt nothing immediately. i started using some pretty hi-dose edibles, cuz i have a very high tolerance. 100mg/day, later 200, for about 6 mos. it was like brain drano. not only cleared out all symptoms of fibro, but neuro-ticks from a childhood tbi.
it did get the gears turning a bit fast. borderline manic. so i quit, tho i continued to smoke a fair amount. i expected to have to figure out a maintenance dose that wd hang on to the good parts, but 4 yrs later, the symptoms never returned.

i take a cbn-cbd-thc pill for sleep now. i tried several other meds that didnt rly help. this helps, but what helps a lot more is getting enough exercise. i wear a tracker, mostly to watch my sleep. if i hit my goal of 5000 steps, i will sleep well. if i hit 8k, i sleep like a baby. if i have a sedentary day, i will sleep like crap.
i have a young dog that needs walking, so that’s a lot of my steps. but i bought a treadmill, for me and for the dogs, cuz i wuss out easily in bad weather. if i do 15-20 min in the evening, i usually sleep well.

have u had a sleep study? i had a cpap at 1 time. i lost a lot of weight and had a clean study. but i still wake up too many times a night. i have an appt coming up w a new sleep doc. part of my problem is lung issues. the cpap didnt stop a ton of apneas, but it did keep my nasal passages dry, which helped a lot. i’m trying to quit tobacco, switching to low nicotine vapes to transition, and i’m gonna switch to vapes instead of flower. vapes r helping the snot flow.

i just filed to renew my medical card. i’m tired of having little choice of strains from a street dealer. so i can figure out which strains work for what. my local adult use dispensary has medical monday, where card holders get half price. their prices r starting to come down. they were getting top dollar, despite being a short trip from mich, where legalization pushed prices way down.
market pressures r starting to take hold.

hope that’s helpful.

Ignore the above post. Actually, it was removed. The guy was being a jerk. No place for comments like that in a support forum.

Some insomnia though. Otherwise I feel better than when I was using.
