Wife's online gaming addiction.

I've come to realize that my wife has an addiction to online games, at the moment it's Monopoly Go, and I'm kind of at a loss as to how to deal with it.

She's not very computer savvy, today I was helping her set up an account and had to open her email to do it. While there I noticed nearly a full page of receipts from the apple play store..... she's spent over $1000 on Monopoly Go since the middle of December.

A couple of years ago it was almost the exact same scenario, I was helping her and had to open her email account and right there in front of me were over $1600 in receipts from Candy Crush.

If I say anything I'm going to be the bad guy for "spying on her".

I'm super pissed at her right now for spending that much money on stupid online games, but don't have a clue how to approach the situation other than totally blowing my stack.

do NOT approach this from the "look how much money you've wasted!" vein.
Something more like, "Honey, love you to bits .. and I've gotten just slightly concerned .. " "Any chance that maybe you're not feeling a little concerned about this too?" "Think we should talk?"

I found the link for GA - and I realize that you can't just come out and suggest this for your wife, but this link may answer some of your questions. Please let us know how it goes - and hang in there!

And I used to go to OA meetings with my sponsor, great group! She was regular OA and when I drank, I didn't eat.

To me it's like playing cards over the phone. You have a pair of nines and I tell you I have a royal flush. You lose and you owe me $100.

Firstly, I'm sorry this is happening.

I'm in recovery myself from Drugs & Alcohol. AA was great for me.

I used to work with a woman (quite a bit younger than I at the time- probably late 30's) and she said she had gambling issues.
Unfortunately, she said she went to a GA meeting and people were talking about the things they did to get money (not illegally) to support their gambling habits. She said it ended up just giving her ideas.

Hers wasn't online gambling. She went to casinos so maybe that's completely different. Thank God I find gambling so boring (with my addictive personality - I'm lucky).

I hope your wife can get some help.
