Addiction & Recovery
Related: About this forumWent to hear the Detroit Symphony Saturday night
The reason I'm mentioning it is because my wife and I are donors. And with our donation (it's not really a huge amount), we have access to the Donor Lounge. Which means an open bar. Before I quit drinking I used to get totally shit-faced on wine. Looking back, it's kind of funny. When I'd get a to-go cup to take to my seat, I'd have the bartender fill up a 16 oz. beer cup. I've been sober for 6 years now and at first I hated going to the lounge. These days I just get a cranberry juice on the rocks. My wife drinks so basically I'm the DD.
I'm just really lucky I never got a DUI or in an accident. Wow! Happy to be sober.
If I can do it, you can too!

(6,687 posts)I've also been sober for years, so I know how big your accomplishment is.
I followed a similar path, was similarly fortunate; drove drunk many times, never even pulled over.

And the symphony is more meaningful and memorable
21 years here, being drunk and out of control Is long gone from my life 😁
