Related: About this forumThird Remission of Lymphoma (Update)
I got the results from my PET scan this week.
My previous PET scan was back in February
I have been in remission for 1 year 3 months.
I have been living with lymphoma for over 30+ years.
First remission was 13+ years; second remissions was 16+ years; this is my third remission.
I have NOT forgotten that (TFG) wanted to repeal the ACA and I would have lost my life time limit and pre-existing protections. Before this last remission, my physicians tried 4 different type of treatments and all failed to varying degrees. Unfortunately, when it returns, it gets more aggressive and previous treatments do not work anymore.
Currently, I am under maintenance treatments every 3 weeks.
Thank all for those at DU who have given me well wishes in the past.

(28,833 posts)Every clean scan is a happy scan. Just hit two years in my first remission, also lymphoma. Won't officially be until January, but my doctor is pretty sure I was clear by November 2021 and I don't have any symptoms.
I did a lot of research about the difficulties in treating it if it doesn't respond or returns while I was going through treatment. I'm glad that your team was able to resolve it the last time. As you noted, each time makes it more complicated. Positive thoughts on continuing to beat the odds and staying in remission.
Agreed on TFG and the ACA. I knew that cancer was expensive to treat, but the numbers were still a shock. We have excellent insurance, though it has a moderately-high yearly deductible, but we're still extremely grateful. Not sure what we would have done otherwise.

(18,633 posts)Your post made me think of a wonderful woman I met twice some years ago at a health center Ive been to a couple times over the years. It helped me ditch nicorette gum after depending on it for several years. Anyway they specialized I. Far more serious conditions than my challenge. Here is an interview she did regarding her journey with lymphoma. The British journal of medicine also printed her story. Just in case you are interested.
Edited to add: Im sorry this clip seems to show a lot of commercials, sorry. You could google and find her story.
