HBP Monitor question
Hi All,
I am newly dxd & on meds but would like to monitor my bp at home to look for trends, effects from foods, etc.
Anyone know of a reasonably priced home unit of medical grade that tracks & graphs trends? Also would like it to monitor & graph irregular heart issues. I would also like a (truly) free app to work with the device. Some offer 6 mos free, then ~$100/ yr to track data.

(2,847 posts)I bought a 35 cent notebook during back to school and took my BP around 7 AM and 7 PM every day with an inexpensive wrist BP monitor. I made a copy for my doc and gave it to her every 3 months.
It was low tech and cost almost nothing.
I am certain there are apps and devices out there, but the reinforcement of physically writing the numbers got me to get off my butt and walk and exercise.
Lost some weight and got the BP under control so she gave me the green light to stop tracking.

(14,607 posts)it's a legit reading. I log it in my note pad.. easy peasy. It's good to track the progress and not just take a snapshot in time.. The trend is your friend.
Trending up? trending down? just staying the same..?...

(41 posts)I use my omron when I need reassurance that the numbers correspond to my symptoms. Sometimes I feel dizzy and check my blood pressure to chart my numbers and symptoms. With this information I am able to have a conversation with my doctor. I also correspond it to caffeine intake, medication response time, fatigue or my cognition. I write my data down in a handy dandy notebook and bring it to the doctors' appointments. I do not have "cardiovascular disease" but a few other fun diseases that effect my circulation and cognition. My specialists appreciate that I can see correlation and can use the data for coping mechanisms such as posture, breathing exercises, removing myself from stressful situations and people.
Ask the Docs and RN's for input. There are also nurse educators available in larger institutions. Ask the staff
