I want my life back.
A dear friend died. I cannot go to her funeral tomorrow. My husband is going, at least.
I am so short of breath with post covid symptoms that there are days I cannot leave the house or do anything useful in the house. We had covid right at the end of July and took Paxlovid. It cleared up. My husband is fine. There are days I can hardly breathe. I hope this goes away sometime.

(47,130 posts)I had covid twice in August and early September. I was good except for sinuses. That lingered worse than ever. I'm convinced what helped most was eliminating sweets. All of them. No sugar anywhere in my diet. My sweets are an apple, a potato. It took about 3 weeks to improve. Of course it may be covid enabled food allergies to worsen.

(589 posts)last December.
I was super wheezy and congested for months.
I tried getting an albuterol inhaler that helped a little.
Then in August, I got an inhaler that is a steroid inhaler and it has made a ton of difference
There are lots of brands. Mine is called Advair. You use it 2 times a day.
It took about a month but my congestion and wheezing are gone. I can sleep at night and dont need tissues close by at all times.
It is so isolating, I know how you feel.
Wishing you health and a good nights sleep.

(113,131 posts)but you're going toneed to be evaluated by a doc and that means leaving your house. An urgent care will do, so will an ER if you don't have a regular doc.
Long Covid is a real thing but supportive care can help you get through it.

(6,658 posts)and I probably have long Covid too. I took Paxlovid the first 2 times, but not with the last bout. The 1st time was brutal, and I was down for the count for about a month. The second time I had the exact same symptoms but everything resolved more quickly, so I was only down for a couple of weeks. This last time I felt like crap for a few days, and then that was it. The difference being this time is that I have lingering symptoms that are very weird. Each day a new body part aches terribly, the sinus congestion is constant and then all of a sudden it's like somebody opens the floodgates for an hour and I'm going through tissues like there's no tomorrow, and then it stops until the next time it starts up again. I'm experiencing massive hair loss, which my doctor said has been pretty much a symptom of everybody she's seen in her office who has gotten covid recently, I have constant fatigue, but at least it is mild, and my breathing is not as good as it was. What has helped me is forcing myself to exercise on my "good" days. I'm finding that I will actually have an afternoon a few times a week now where I almost feel normal, so I'm encouraged by that, and the littlest amount of exercise seems to make me feel better (one day I only managed 20 sit-ups, and it actually seemed to make a difference, go figure). I think the body pains are the strangest thing because I keep wondering if I've strained a muscle or hurt something, but I know I haven't. When I first decided to just make myself exercise, I noticed that the body pains would diminish, but I would be super fatigued afterward, and I worried that it was counterproductive, but the increased fatigue isn't happening anymore, I actually feel better overall for a little while. Everyone says it's just going to take time. I hope your bad days become less and less frequent. Just don't give up hope. You've got this!
My deepest condolences ❤️

(23,013 posts)inhalers that can help you breath. I've had asthma all my life and developed Eosinophilic asthma a couple years ago. There is a medicine for that too but it is a shot you have to take every month.
Or maybe it would be better going to a pulmonologist.
I wish you the best and I hope you feel better soon. Remember tons of people have this and can function with medication

(31,462 posts)or maybe it is the passage of time. Some days, if I don't push myself, I do better. I have supplemental oxygen to use at home. I am seeing my primary doc again on the 15th. I have a pulmonologist. I despise him. He is my second pulmonologist. I need to find someone who works well with me. We hired someone to help with light housekeeping. We are not poor, but it is expensive. My daughter suggested this, and she is paying for it. I am doing everything I can think of. Thank you, and thank everyone, who has supported me here. We need each other now more than ever.
