How can we get more comments and threads on this group????

Exercise is my one main "hobby". I do it for better health (BP normal, cholesterol normal, blood sugar normal, weight normal, etcetera), better aging (54), it is a mental health thing (proven fact), and for the obvious slightly narcissistic reasons (I think it is sad that more people do not admit that).

If you walk, row, run, jog, pilate, yoga, bodybuild, stretch, breath in and out, you probably have something to contribute to help others stay healthy.

We all have probably had times when we think have done great and other times maybe not so great.

One thing that I, even as a 95% vegetarian and 10% fishy (shrimp and oysters) daily exercising person screwed up, is fiber in the diet. Specifically I don't think I was getting nearly enough up until the last year.

Also simple low to moderate cardio on top of weights of at least 30 minutes a day.

That (fiber and 30 minutes a day) alone caused a almost 10lb fat loss over 6 months. Mind you I have never really "let myself go" but little tweaks have made a huge difference especially while getting older. It is all relative though. Everyone has something that they have done or want to do or cannot do.

Things like that.

2. Dance. Dance is my therapy. At 71, I HAVE let myself go at times

But I’m taking multiple classes a week, eat healthy 80% of the time.
When I get way off track, I go back to listening to healthy, brain warrior, anti-aging podcasts to nudge myself back in a healthier direction
I’m under a lot of stress and have seen a chiropractor for the first time ever because physical therapy wasn’t cutting it.

3. I should have included dance. I can't but others can.

The podcasts are a great idea if they motivate. Can you link a couple?

Also as to the "letting myself go" thing I obviously (male) never gave birth, or have kids (we never had kids), so that can usually crack even the most ardent physical fitness freaks.

Stress though is universal. It has ramped up since Covid hit. I am feeling it too.

7. I'm afraid I lack discipline to dance more than a few minutes

…. unless I go to a class.
I can’t dance until I sweat to a DVD or podcast.
But I have just enough discipline to get to a class.
Zumba, Dance Fit, aerobic dance…. And I’m there.

4. I try to walk every day.

I didn't get out and walk this winter because of bad weather and it really showed in terms of my health. Was ill with one thing or another.

I am now walking again and hopefully will feel better.

I try to eat fairly well. Meat, fish, salads.

My downfall is I like to drink a coke every day and have a cup of coffee with sugar.

I would like to lose about 5 lbs.

Thanks for your post!

5. Walking is one of the best longevity activities. While I don't drink sodas I like beer.

I should have added in my OP that I cut my beer intake by over half by...discovering Delta 8...

How do you like Delta 8?

I have an adverse reaction to marijuana unfortunately.
I get violently ill, vomiting, etc.

But it would be nice to have taken it when I broke my leg and ankle, for pain management.

8. I have never allergic to cannabis. Delta 8 is amazing.

It's really mellow no paranoia. That said if you chew 100 mg of a chewy you're going to get high AF. Or at least you might.

I generally take about 15 mg and it lasts 2 or 3 hours of just chill out. When I taken 50 mg I have been high, really high for like 3 hours.

The Guinness zero is awesome. I love that stuff. I will put half of a glass of it and then a light beer on top of it and it makes a nice kind of dark beer with very little alcohol. I will also drink it straight without adding any light beer to it it's still good.

I'm all those people that can drink four or five years over anything without even thinking about it and not even be drunk. However that's a lot of empty calories. The Delta 8 has cut my weekly beer drinking to a third of what it used to be.

9. I will give the Guinness zero a try.

My Irish DNA should love the Guinness part but not the zero part.

I'm afraid to try the Delta 8 because I got so sick when I smoked pot one time in college.
I tend to be one of the allergic to everything people. A total drag.

If I tried it for pain management I would start with just a tiny amount and see how I do.

10. Delta 8 and hhc are hemp derivatives.

The theoretical theoretically they may not have the same allergy as regular cannabis. Delta 9 means Delta 9 THC Delta 8 means Delta 8 t h c. Hhc does not have THC but it's still kind of works like Delta 8.

It's really not very expensive either online I use a company called denex out of Colorado.

13. I lived in Colorado in 2018 and 2019. That was the first time I encountered D8

This was before the farm bill that basically legalized all the Deltas but #9 in Texas and other prohibition states. I often bought D8 at the dispensary because I found the more mellow high more conducive to productivity. On my days off I would do the hard stuff (Death Star Indica with like 19% D9). When I moved back to Texas and discovered I could buy D8 carts at my local convenience store I was beside myself with joy. I don't even buy the illegal D9 anymore because D8 and D10 work great for me. If MJ makes you paranoid, you might want to stay clear of the D10 - it seems to be much more psychedelic than D*

Have you tried HHC? It is another now legal cannabis product and probably my favorite. The high seems to last longer than D8

14. Hi, I guess I never saw this group before

I walk dog daily, do yoga, some Tai Chi and Chi Qong, some hiking, and just joined a Balance class because I fell hiking twice this summer. My flexibility is not what it used to be! The second time I fell I sprained my wrist and here two months later still can't put a lot of weight on the hand or pain comes. I heard ligaments take a long time to heal.

I started doing weights and resistance bands a week ago doing easy stuff 3lbs especially being careful of my hand with wrist issues.

I need to lose 20 lbs and been yoyo'ing last 20 yrs. I just hired an online coach from England. Nice when you find someone online they can live anywhere. Nice guy, it's just good for me to have to check in with someone for my weight and exercise to keep me going.

I am 67 so at this age you start to really care about your health if you want a longer life that is.
