have a bad phobia and panic attacks. I have a severe weather fear and it's the middle of the night. I have a feel this time I will see damage to my home. I have no one and no idea what to do if or when it happens. I have what feels like a cold chill going down my spine and an overall feeling in my body like out and out poison. I don't know how to describe it.
Anyhow, I was just wondering if there is any 24 hour phone line for people who are not suicidal, but do suffer from phobias that are this intense.

What state and city are you in? Are you under a tornado warning and do you have a safe room in your house?
If you are in a tornado warning situation, is there someone, a close friend or neighbor, you could reach out to for help or just company so that you won't be all alone in such a situation, regardless of the COVID_19 orders? Maybe ejust just staying on the phone or chatting on Facebook with someone until the storm warning is over would give you some comfort.
Of course the likelihood is that your house will be just fine. If there's no one else to reach out to, maybe just turn on some relaxing music and get a good book to read to pass some time until the danger is past and you can feel safe again.

(8,513 posts)This isn't answering your question, but I can tell you that there are some awesome videos on youtube to help deal with panic attacks. There are some breathing exercises that help.

(221,186 posts)That's one blessings of this site, we're always here 24/7. I suffered from severe panic attacks when I was in my 20s. One thing I was told to do was to breathe into a small paper bag - which really did seem to help. I carried one with me in my purse for years. I'm sure that there are services you can look up if you have a phone book, but a this hour DU is the best idea. Just remember to breathe. That's what I tell myself when I feel panic coming on since I often realize that I'm holding my breath.

You can also try calling the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): 1-800-950-NAMI (6264). Also you could try this :Text CONNECT to 741741 . They have counselors for support. I hope these work for you.

(113,130 posts)and they're not all suicidal. Many of the staffers are psych majors learning their trade in the trenches. They know that just talking things out can help a lot.
