Psychologist shares the 'daily mental workout' she uses to crush her inner critic: 'It's been a real

game changer.'

https://www.cnbc.com/2023/02/13/psychologist-rachel-turow-daily-mental-workout-to-crush-inner-critic.html

For most of her teens and 20s, Rachel Turow was her own worst critic.

“I felt awkward and lonely and weird,” Turow, a Seattle-based clinical psychologist, said on a recent podcast episode of “The Happiness Lab,” hosted by Yale University professor Dr. Laurie Santos.

Feeling bad about herself was a “core aspect” of who Turow was as a person: She’d listen to self-love and empowerment anthems, but “had no idea how to get there,” she said. It was the epitome of self-criticism — a common affliction, and one that Turow referred to as “the smoking of mental health.”

"Like smoking, once it gets going, it sort of takes on a life of its own,” she said.

And Yale is offering Dr. Santos' very popular The Science of Well Being course free!

are to a large extent those who experience challenges with their mental health when young. They feel a need to straighten themselves out. Some succeed, some don't. But they all have licenses. In my opinion that's a good enough reason to avoid therapy.

They have insight plus a fantastic education. These facts allow them to help us heal.

But there is online an extensive trail of patients complaining about the bad apples. Like most occupations, it can in some situations be a locus of power and control that is legally defended at all costs. Patients never win against practitioners, or almost never. They get fired or lose their license they just move to another state.
