When reconnecting backfires

I reached out to two friends, who weirdly, ended up working in the same place. The female and I are talking like it hasn't been 20 yrs. The male, married, I lightly "dated", but more like friends, huffily told her he got my message but, "he's a married man", so, of course, he won't respond.

My female friend said, I'm sure it's harmless. She contacted me, too. She's not trying to start an affair. I said hi, and hoped everything was ok with him. Nothing salacious, of course.

I'm embarrassed. Sometimes, don't look back.

It’s hard not to feel embarrassed when somebody rebuffs a friendly message, but you haven’t done anything to be embarrassed about.

His religiosity put me off in the 80s. I was raised catholic, but not super religious. He was much more.

My female friend told me about his and his wifes work shenanigans, and they both sound like odd ducks. Maybe she'll go nuts if she found out. She's very jealous
