With school, and work, and your wife... You manage to keep it all together and still make time to encourage everyone in this group!!

Great advice. I do think people don't also give them enough credit for their successes. For example, Denninmi could have said shortly after starting to ride his bike "I will never make 50 miles, so why bother", but he didn't. You have to keep celebrating the minor successes that get you to your ultimate goal.

Keep on keeping on and you will get there. Maybe a set back (or two, or three, or ten), but if you are making progress, you are successful!

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm doing 40-60 mile rides routinely as often as time allows, generally on weekend mornings. Longest ride to date was 85 mile round trip.

Self confidence is everything. Mine in my athletic abilities has mushroomed. I'm now pushing myself in an advanced fitness class. It's tough, today was basically cardio, this morning in an hour we had to do a total of 200 squats, 200 push-ups, 200 sit-ups, 200 planks with hip rotation, 400 reps jumping a rope, 8 times doing the bear crawl across a full sized basketball court/gym floor and back, 8 sets of lunges across the gym and back, and 16 times jogging around the gym perimeter.

I'm still not as fast or as good as most of the people in there, out of about 20 people, I would say I finished in the last 3rd, I got through about 6 of the 8 total rounds.

I followed that up with about 45 minutes doing practice laps in the pool - ok, truth in advertising, 30 minutes doing laps, 15 minutes soaking in the hot tub so I would at least be able to walk today once I got to work.

Little over a year ago, I could barely walk a mile. Starting my triathlon training course first part of January, I already signed up.

I am confident that not only will I continue to improve, but that my increased self confidence in this area of my life translates over to many other areas.

Self confidence - it's a good thing, Martha.

I do have a lot more confidence in myself and my art. It has come about slowly, for sure...

But with the support of my friends, and my therapist, I have come to see my gifts. Yes, my therapist. I have been in therapy for some years now, every other week, and I value it enormously.

She is a psychologist, and she understands me extremely well. I have long since solved the problem that took me to her long ago, so now I go just for her input and to stay balanced. I don't need medication, I just need to talk and get her feedback, and those work!

This is an excellent forum, and I plan to visit it now and then, to read, think and when I have something to contribute, do that too.
