Smoking Cessation
Related: About this forumQuit smoking symptoms - did you have any?
OK I still haven't completely quit and it has been over 2 weeks using ecigs. I am ok with that for now, I am down to 5 cigs a day from 20.
I am having headaches every day starting in the morning and by 10am I am popping advil. Did you have headaches from reducing or quitting? Also I am breaking out a little which I have heard is definitely a symptom of quitting.
I bought some 24mg ejuice but did not like the taste and then I broke my spare tank so I have been sticking to the 18mg juice.

(19,149 posts)I had, amazingly, no symptoms or issues at all. That was almost six months ago. Craving? Sometimes but it's quick and passes. I wish you the best!
PS: I thought about ecigs but decided that it would only 'enable' or reinforce my old habit.

i cannot have one puff.
no. i have not really had the headaches. well, maybe some, but not consistent like you are so i did not see them as a sympton. i rarely get headaches and i know i had way more than i normallly do not have at other times.
mine is no the physical craving, or effected phiysically so much.
an interesting.
first day is easy
second is like mind saying really? not gonna give me any? i will show you.... lol. i start feeling like i smoke a pack in an hour. it also seems like there is effects with body purging.
but the end of the third day, that goes away and becomes more subtle attacks to get me to smoke.
day 7 seem to be the day of total cleansing in body.
symptoms... my mind ficks with me. can not really think of any physical symptoms. i can tell you symptoms with chantix. there are lots.
but, it is the only time i can actually say no to the voices in my head.

(8,176 posts)I rarely get headaches and do not like taking meds so this is getting annoying. Sometimes I wonder if it is psychosomatic because the bad guy in my head doesn't want me to quit.

(13,449 posts)A very long time ago. I would never have believed it then, but I never have any desire for a cigarette, ever. After the first few months, no more will-power was required.

(2,312 posts)I've had no symptoms I would ascribe to quitting cigs. There have been a few rough patches, for sure...about week 3 I had some soreness in my throat, but I think that was the makeup of some of the juices I was using. And I do have trouble tasting my juices at times, but food and drink taste great! I'm also getting back my singing voice, which is very exciting for me. My sister just visited and we sang some Steely Dan songs in harmony, which was really fun!
Now that I understand that nicotine is the least bad thing about smoking I feel great about having made the switch! Physically, I totally feel as though I quit, and I'm very happy.

(14 posts)My dads been smoking for years and I know that he wants to quit but whenever he tries, it takes one little thing to go wrong before he starts up again. Any advice on how to best support him?

(15,359 posts)withdrawl. My body can't really still be doing that to me, it's all in my head. It goes away pretty quick though. That is what had gotten me in the past. Months down the road and I think I'm in the clear and wham! It's like I need a cigarette as bad as I've ever needed one. Just don't jump in the car and head to buy a pack, it'll pass.

(60,134 posts)I figured, as long as I was miserable I might as well quit smoking. That was 1973.
We try our best to avoid pain and discomfort. I continued smoking because I felt bad if I didnt smoke. I was just another junkie avoiding withdrawal.
I cheated using my nasty cold to mask the pain of withdrawal. Whatever works.
Keep trying until you find what works.
