And stupid me just had to have one.

I started again in October, but dropped them at Thanksgiving, soooo starting up again this weekend with the 6 remaining weeks, and I have a call into my Doc to ask him to call in another 90 days for me.

Good luck!

She said I could take it for a year or more. She said most patients need 3 months. But if I wanted a year I could have it.

I'm amazed by how well it works.

In fact, the only reason he agreed to my request for a prescription was because I had taken it before without incident. Apparently, he is a bit gun shy about it now.

I am thrilled to hear you are doing well with it! I remember that weird feeling the first time - no words really fit, but its almost like I forgot to smoke or something. I would go all day at work and 3pm would roll around and I would realize that I never once looked at the clock to go outside and came straight back from lunch without taking a smoke break. Bizarre.

I hope to capture that again - and doubly hope that this isn't a first and done type of drug where it only works the first time and then you build up some kind of permanent resistance to it, because that would royally suck.

Instead of setting a date to quit, I set a date for buying my last pack of cigarettes. Then I told myself that if I really want a cigarette, I can have one. It's funny, knowing I CAN smoke if I want to keeps me from actually smoking.

So far it seems to be working. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Tried the ceremonial "last cig" before, and that just never really worked for me. The times i have been able to quit, it is because of what you just said - gave myself the choice and chose not to.

Isn't for everyone, but you have my full support on it.

You CAN do this!

Maybe 1 pack a week. I did that for 3 months. Now when I think of smoking I think of those disgusting herbal smokes and how bad they made me feel. Champix really separated the act of smoking from the enjoyment parts of the brain.

to it.

Please have your doctor monitor you carefully. If it works for you with no ill effects, I will celebrate for you and with you.

I have found that if I drink a mountain of water when I take the pill, it stops it. Not easy, but I try to get in about 20oz within the first few minutes.

Chantix and musicians don't mix for some reason. I lasted a week. When I woke up in a cold sweat shaking like crazy, I said that was it. I was holding my wifes head by the hair and she was screaming at me. Had other weird dreams but that was the kicker~

It worked. It also helps that since I am now paying for my own insurance, I would have to pay about 50% more as a smoker. They could test me any time. I need to test nicotine-free.

I actually get sick if I smoke now. I think smoking is a thing of the past for me.
