(120,864 posts)Since the pandemic started I've lost 60 lbs. by cutting out most carbs, especially sweets, bread and potatoes, eating high-protein foods with "good" fats (avoiding trans fats) and doing a lot of walking. I can't imagine that a high-carb diet would work unless you focus on complex carbohydrates like non-starchy vegetables, beans and nuts. Avoid simple carbohydrates, which are in candy, desserts, doughnuts, potatoes, cereals, white bread, white rice, pasta, bagels, etc. These foods have empty calories and in a worst case could lead to a pre-diabetic condition.

(46,996 posts)and storing the rest. Low-fat protein, green vegetables, complex carbs (whole wheat flour, grains, low in sugar), low dairy. Avoid starches - potatoes, fries, chips, crackers.
