How's everyone doing with the holiday food orgies?

Hi All - Dealing with the Thanksgiving meal and leftovers has been very tough for me. I've definitelly been overeating since Thanksgiving Day. I'll be glad when the leftovers are all gone. This is the first major holiday feast since my surgery this past summer. If I can get through the holidays without any long-term weight gain, I'll consider that a win. I'm still going to the gym every other day, so that should help some.

Overall, I'm now down a total of 70 pounds since February, 40 of them since my lap-band surgery in June. My goal is to lose another 50 over the next 6 -12 months.

I've now got 15 weeks of following a moderately low carb (<70 grams), but nutritionally very well balanced diet and 20 weeks of walking 4 miles or more daily-- under my belt. During that time, I've only had one day when I couldn't control what I was going to eat, having been pressured into attending a fancy restaurant with friends, but quickly made up for that the next day with extra exercise and getting immediately back on my normal (new) pattern of eating.

Weight comes off so slowly after your 20s and 30s, but I'm still averaging 1.25 pounds/week and I'm down two sizes.... Still a long way to go to meet my final goal, which should occur by late spring, but I'm feeling better and more in control than I've been for more than a decade. And, I've pretty much lost the cravings, or at least have them at a manageable level.

Congratulations to you on your remarkable progress. One day at a time...

My daily goal is about 40 WW points (roughly 2000 calories) to maintain where I am (56 yrs old, 6 feet tall, fluctuating bet. 196-200 lbs, down from 260 in January 2011). I track my points and what I eat (everything I eat) daily and have been for 1.5 years.

Thanksgiving day was 54 points (2800 cal or so), yesterday 48 points....probably did the best I've ever done around a Thanksgiving holiday. Back to healthier eating today!

good luck, all....remember, every day is a fresh start!

leftover homemade apple pie is kicking my ass. I'm sure christmas will be the same. I'll be glad too when the holidays are over.

And leftover stuffing and gravy is continuing to kick it. And I sent plenty of leftovers home with my guests.

I've given myself six weeks to eat pretty much what I please--not overeating, just eating what seems good at the moment and stopping when I'm full. I've at least not gained weight. Next week is the gastric bypass.

Anyone who blames Thanksgiving (or even the day or two afterwards) for weight gain is lying to themselves. Even an extra 3000 calories will only add one pound to your frame. So hop back on the horse and continue eating well.

It's the workplace holiday luncheon and the party foods and the leftovers and the snacks and candy everyone brings into work. It's a month of temptation everywhere you look. I'm finally rid of most of the Thanksgiving leftovers. I'm going to try to get back on track until Christmas. But this time of year is definitely a challenge.

I started WW two weeks ago and had lost 2.4 pounds--not much, I know, but I was eating a reasonably healthy diet before I started so didn't make any huge changes.

I ate everything I wanted Thursday, Friday and Saturday and gained 2.2 pounds, then started tracking again yesterday (Sunday), so I'm hoping it's gone by next Sunday.

Cooked fewer things, healthier. For example, the only dessert I made was a sugar-free Jello mould with fresh fruit in it. Everyone survived.

malnutrition according to my bloodwork. Pre-albumin and albumin values are awful. I have to see a specialist. This is nothing new though.
I am feeling the weakening effects however and that's never a good thing.

No turkey here. We traveled to Canada to visit family. No leftovers either

Sounds like you all behaved yourselves quite nicely.

The last time this happened the Dr had me on TPN via PICC line for 3 weeks. That seems to kick start me again. Hoping to hear when my appt with the specialist is so I can start to do whatever it is I need to do.

thanks Rox
