Asian noodle bowl with baby bok choy, homemade chicken broth, tofu (sauteed first in toasted sesame oil), scallions, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, fresh cilantro from the garden (does well in the high thirties, low forties temps). Lotsa' ginger and garlic.
I also made up another pot of matzo ball soup.

(36,332 posts)I have some nice Pacific halibut fillets defrosting as we speak. Or type. Whatever.
We sailed into Beaufort, SC this afternoon to discover the town is having an oyster festival! It looks like they have oysters from raw to fried to grilled! Theres a big selection of side dishes including grits, macaroni & cheese, salad, cole slaw and more. Theres a beverage tent with a bar and a beer section with about 99 bottles of beer on the wall! I think well enjoy it.
Its reasonably priced and itll be fun to meet some new folks. The town looks lovely and we plan to explore tomorrow.

(69,713 posts)My wife doesn't care for crayfish, so I substituted 24-30 shrimp cut in 2.
I also couldn't find fresh okra so I had to use frozen.
Added mushrooms, red pepper ribbons, celery, onion, shredded chicken, the shrimp & sliced and Ouellette.
I had the roux the color of chocolate sauce before I added bourbon. Then stock.
I cheated on the rice. I used boil in bag, and added it at the end.
My wife thought I nailed the spices.
Lots left over. Subbing tomorrow, so the small container is lunch.

(10,626 posts)Orange peel beef and dry-sauteed green beans, with rice. (Actually, the beef is a defrosted leftover and I had an orange on hand, plus some basic spices, so I marinated the beef in the juice with ginger, garlic, Korean pepper flakes, rice vinegar, and roasted sesame oil)
