I made a small amount of Waldorf chicken salad and

Chicken Waldorf salad. I got a deli chicken Tuesday, so I used some of that. Added part of a Granny Smith apple, chopped celery, walnuts, and dried cranberries. I used honey, cream and mayo for the dressing, with a dash of hot sauce.

Waldorf salad. Used the rest of the apple, some chopped celery, walnuts, dried cranberries, and mini marshmallows. Used mayo, cream, Classic Monks fruit sweetener, about a tsp of brown vinegar, and a dash of salt.

I also use vanilla yogurt instead of mayo at times. That is best in plain Waldorf.

I made Watergate salad last week. Pistachio pudding with multi color tiny marshmallows.

makes green salad. Had it for the first time at Easter last year. Lime jello, cream cheese, pineapple and coolwhip. Really good.

I've heard of Watergate salad, but never had it.

Just pistachio pudding. Both of those call for mandarin oranges with the crushed pineapple . I basically use what I have. Fruit cocktail. But the vanilla yogurt works in regular Waldorf so I use it in all of them.

I found a cake recipe. Big can of pineapple, juice and all, box of cake mix, I like French Vanilla. Mix, pour in 9 by 13 pan, bake until toothpick clean. Delicious. No oil, nothing else. Paula tried it.

You mix 2 cans of mandarin oranges, 3 eggs and oil into a yellow cake mix, bake until knife comes out clean. Let it cool and mix a can of pineapple, a 3 oz box of vanilla pudding into a 8 oz tub of cool whip. Some of the recipes call it pig-lickin' good cake. It is so good. I haven't made it for years, too good

I might try your pineapple cake. Sounds good and easy, and in this time of fabulous eggs, a perfect end run!

Your salads sound delish!

I have a hard time getting my guys to eat fruits and vegetables but Waldorf salad and tossed green salad is usually a crowd pleaser.

It wilts pretty quick. When I worked in the hospital kitchen, they made waldorf salad and served it on a leaf. At home, we all liked it better without any lettuce

My husband liked all vegetables and fruit. I'd make chef salad, and we both liked that.

Growing up in New England, we had Waldorf salad but I have never seen it anywhere near any kind of greens other than celery and marshmallows in a salad, hmmm. And, in our family, we never made Waldorf unless Macintosh apples were available for this purpose.



The sauce is made of mayo/sour cream and some sweetener. I never saw a variant until I was in my 30s and pretty well traveled by then.

I love apples in green salads, though, they make it much more interesting and tasty, so do nuts.

Sounds like you have a good set of favorite flavors going on, and that's what counts! Enjoy, you've inspired me to go make something salad-like for lunch!

but never made it. My daughter's m-i-l brought a creamy fruit salad for Christmas. It was good, but I really wanted the green salad

For a green salad I prefer spring greens, with what ever you like added. I love Visalia or sweet onions.

My Son raises Bibb Lettuce, small heads and they hold up well.

Would use whipped cream, drained pineapple pre-soaked in rum, and a little coco Lopez or coconut. Like eating a piña colada with a spoon.

When yogurt first became popular one had a Pina Colada flavor. I used to eat it for lunch every day.

Now I have found fat blueberry bagels, Krogers,strawberry crealm cheese,( Walmart,) and home made blackberry jam.My DIL’s!

she called it 24 hour salad. Lots of fruit (I don't remember if it was all fresh, canned or both) mixed up into whipped cream, with some vanilla extract.
She put it into a casserole dish and froze it. My cousins went berserk over it.

Made with fresh bananas, tangerines or oranges, grapefruit, angel flake coconut and pineapple chunks. We served it in dessert goblets alongside the coconut cake and boiled custard.

It did not have a dressing of any type. Maybe a little sugar.

I use Kirkland canned chicken breast (drained) and work it with my fingers until it is flakey. Then I add the chopped apple, celery, walnuts and use fat free vanilla yogurt for the dressing. Sometimes I put the dried cranberries in it if I have any. I love it. We had some a couple of days ago with some tomato on the side.

Kirkland canned chicken breast is very useful! Great for soup, chicken & dumplings, chicken enchiladas etc. I always save the broth in case I need a little for a recipe
