Thanks to all of you who gave me advice and encouragement

we ordered an induction range today! It was expensive, which we expected, and available, which we didn't. It's scheduled for delivery a week from tomorrow!

We need two ovens (both bake) and I didn't want a large "griddle space" down the middle of the cooktop. This stove has four burners and a regular, non-induction warming circle, which I think we'll use a lot--anyone have experience with this?

Anyway, we are over the moon (husband esp. since he can upgrade the stove's functions through apps on his phone), and it's all thanks to you guys.

Generic Low Med and High.. I was curious what the tempratures were so I put a small pot of water on the warming circle and tested the temp after 1 hr.
Small is 120ºf, med 140f and 160º f.. I use it to keep things warm and to slow cook things like grits or oatmeal. Quick boil and then on the warmer.
Also if I'm making something like an omelet. I will sauté the omelets ingredients then keep it on the warmer while I make the eggs.
An active parking place if you will...

Besides (really, really--I now make oatmeal in a slow cooker overnight) appreciating your information, my husband was taken by "An active parking place if you will..." You earned a "well put" from Mr. Crankola.

Thank you very much--it's hard to wait for it to be installed!

are the best. I think they come out the "creamiest" of all cooking methods.. Stove top is the quick and dirty method I think...
Over nite steel cut oats with blueberries and walnuts and I'm good to go...
If I'm feeling daring I'll add a bit of honey and cinnamon...😱

(real maple syrup) for me, mixed dried fruits reconstituted before adding for the old man. Nothing much better than well-cooked oatmeal.
