When she was living with us she always cooked dinner type foods for breakfast. I remember being pregnant and super sensitive to strong smells and waking at 6 a.m. to the smell of a shellfish meal being reheated in the microwave. You couldn't get her to eat breakfast foods unless it was dinner worthy, like a quiche with ham. A mushroom Swiss burger would have been an absolute breakfast treat for her.

got me thinking of a patty melt. That combination of burger, cheese, fried onions and buttered seeded rye toast is my quest of the day!! Maybe I'll go with mushrooms and raw onion. Yes that's the right one. Thank you to whoever bought me valentines.

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium-rare with mustard'd be nice
Heaven on Earth with an onion slice
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise
I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good God almighty which way do I steer
*Courtesy of Jimmy Buffett, of course!

Still nursing a cold, so most likely just having some toast a little later.

But I too like supper for breakfast. Leftovers are the best!

First, fresh-squeezed orange juice. A freshly baked (still warm!) baguette from the farmers market. They bring their own oven in a trailer right to the marketplace. Then homemade cherry marmalade and Austrian marillen (Wachau Valley apricots) marmalade and a French Géramont cheese for the bread. A celery-onion-yoghurt chicken salad, and hot Constant Comment tea (brought from the USA last month), sweetened with some of the Austrian apricot marmalade and some thick white honey from a local beekeeper.

There was more, but I had to pack and get to the Düsseldorf airport, where I am now, waiting for my flight to Switzerland, where I have to work today and tomorrow. There is no rest for the weary.

But you’ll never hear any complaints from me! We’ve been together for almost 49 years now. I’m not going to point out her error in judgment at THIS point!

I tend to agree with those who think I got the better part of the bargian, but like I said, I'm the last to complain.

She is somewhat nearsighted, so the obvious answer to "what does she see in him?" is, unless she puts her glasses on: nothing!

I created a bad situation. A while back, they hadn't finished their food so I dumped the tuna juice on top. Now, if they hear the tab go up on a can, they come a runnin'!

This morning I just added it with their breakfast to avoid any panic.
