More because of the sickness of her friends than her cooking, I'd think.

(4,307 posts)Maybe she and Snoop Dog have better plans
Am cooking a turkey breast in slow cooker the day before. Not dry that way. Gonna dice it up, put it in green enchilada sauce, pack in the the ice chest with some cooked squash, maybe some cornbread (seasoned with diced chili) and tortillas, take it all and my camp stove out for a picnic.
May or may not make a pie. If not. Patty LaBelle cobbler for dessert. If you haven't tried that cobbler, you are missing out!
Done with spending days getting ready for a big meal, cooking it, cleaning up afterwards. Few relatives alive, so no one to share the work with. Fie on tradition. Do what feels best. But TRY THE COBBLER! OMG!

(7,080 posts)daughter every Holiday. Took turns. Last Thanksgiving I was having terrible sciatica pain and bowed out. This year the pain is even worse and am again OUT. Husband brought a 10-lb turkey home today. It will be he and me and football. I will hump around my kitchen day before making pies, wild rice dish, and stuffing veggies cut up for Thursday. Husband will help. Thats all this 76-yr-old is capable of. Im good with this.

The dinners were always great.

Roast the veg with the bird and it can't get any easier.

(24,116 posts)a drag. We either simply go to a really nice Chinese Buffet here in the area, it's wonderful, and no dirty dishes, no mess in the kitchen, wonderful!
I will cook perhaps one or two meal items, such as my Mom's thanksgiving dressing and gravy (she is gone now), which was wonderful.
Everyone, pls. have a nice holiday over Thanksgiving!
