I bought a rotisserie chicken with which to make chicken soup. Debating noodles.
I found this interesting tip about chicken soup, which reminded me that Marthe often does this with her chicken soups, so I think I'll try it:
add a mixture of coriander, cinnamon, fennel, cumin, pepper, cardamom, and cloves,
The person who wrote this tip says it doesn't make it taste like curry, it just adds a dimension of flavor that seemed missing from their soup. Cured the problem.
If I do this, I'll have a crusty bread with it if I don't add the noodles.
Kombucha will be Pink Lady Apple.
Dessert: fruit, probably half an apple and some nuts.

(37,870 posts)I don't worry about it because I have low blood pressure. I once read where you don't need to worry about sodium unless you eat prepared foods. I so rarely have a rotisserie chicken--like you, one every now and then--that I don't even think about it. I'll bet I haven't had one of these for six years. The RG scorns them, undeserving, I think.
And as far as other prepared foods go, very rare in my diet because I like making my own homegrown vegetables.
However, I was so impressed with how tender this chicken was. It was the perfect soup ingredient.
I checked and U.S. Dietary Guidelines for sodium are 1,500 milligrams per day.
Three eggs apiece, Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions and garlic. Served with home fries and a sprig of parsley. California Chardonnay.

(34,256 posts)I sauted onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery, carrots in olive oil. Pulled out the veggies, then wiped the pot, put fresh oil in & roasted my own "Mexican spice mix ( today oregano, cumin, sage, Adobe chili powder). Put the veggies back in, added 2 cans of pinto beans, can of crushed tomatoes and enough chicken stock till I got a stew-soup mix I liked.
Jalapeño cornbread muffins & hot decafe tea.

(1,760 posts)with broccoli, potatoes and chicken thighs. Usually I'm at work, but it's too blizzardy here. Anyway an oven dinner is just the thing on a night like tonight.

(71,021 posts)find in it. I made a light balsamic dressing. It was really good. I am too full for dessert. Besides I am still working off the Christmas / New Year's eating debacle! I can't exercise for a couple more days as I went back into AFIB in the early morning on Sunday. On Monday, I went to the ER and had an Electrical cardioversion...IE paddles that shocked my heart back into sinus rythem. I feel great now.I had a tough fall and Christmas...my sister-in-law died of Covid in the nursing home in early November, both hubs and I caught COVID-19 and missed Thanksgiving...much stress. And then on New Year's Eve (we celebrated Christmas with my out of town son and family), our three adult kids got into an argument and just started speaking again...I hope for better things next year! Hope everyone here is well and happy.

(37,870 posts)I'm sorry to hear that you lost your sister-in-law and also that you had Covid. It indeed was a rough fall for you. I wondered about you numerous times but figured you were just busy. Wow, little did I know with what.
Thank heavens you have good medical care and you're feeling better with your heart back into rhythm.

I took the Covid Meds this time and I had few symptoms and was better in a few days...I try to tell folks this.
