(22,850 posts)Hope your refrigerated and frozen foods survived!
We lose power at our mountain house about once a month. Several years ago, I bit the bullet and had a 12 kilowatt automatic generator installed. If the power is interrupted, the machine kicks on and runs the whole house. It is fueled from our propane tank and its been especially effective in the winter because it keeps the heat on. It was monstrously expensive but it has saved us numerous times.
Glad youre back in the modern world!
For dinner, the Landlady is making something pork in the crockpot. Mashed potatoes and a salad. Chocolate chip cookies.

(37,743 posts)They not only survived, but my frozen foods stayed frozen! The ice, too! It's a new refrigerator and the seals close quite tight plus I made it a point to open infrequently.
I'd like to have a generator. The RG had one installed at another house but it cost $20k. Ay yi yi. Everyone around here has one and they all kicked on during this transformer blowout. The transformer that blew was only 10' from my house and my house is a woodframe. I just feel lucky that it didn't set the place on fire.
It is such a relief to have the cool air and the dehumidifier, although the RG bought me 3 rechargeable fans and I already had 2, so that helped a lot. All were charged up.
Hey, I still have the Bear Mountain Bridge wallpaper I put on my computer after you two went up there recently. The place brings back fond memories. It must have been magical floating around there that night.
Did you get to listen to the music Night City Lights?

(22,850 posts)It was a lovely and quiet evening. We were anchored about a mile south of the bridge off Iona Island. The views were idyllic and the sunset and dusk were colorful and calm.
In the morning, I saw something very strange. It must have been at the tide change but the current in the middle of the river was flowing south while the current in our cove was in opposition heading north. The result was a half-mile long intersection of the clashing currents creating waves and eddies. Of course, Pelagic was anchored right in the middle of the mess!
Im fortunate to have these experiences. Theyre moving, memorable and majestic. Remarkable.

(2,527 posts)of chicken and noodle soup. Got up this morning with stomach pain. It has hurt ALL DAY. My first thought was painful air bubbles. Tried Gas-X, later plain Mylanta. Food today has been a piece of bread, which didn't go well. Been drinking warm water just to move stuff through.. ANYWAY... I'll try soup and see if it doesn't get it all riled up. We had plans for a really great noodle-kugel dinner tonight.... Grrr.

My daughter took me car shopping and we stopped at a local place for pizza and garden salad. Really good. She stopped and bought some local fresh peaches, gave me some. I just had a peach and whipped cream. Really yummy!

(37,743 posts)I think the transformer blew because so many people are using their ACs.
Yay for the peaches! I am watching 3 on my counter for ripeness.
