What's for Dinner, Wed., Sept. 25, 2024

This is my cabbage just as it was starting to grow the head. Took about two months to fully grow.

Garlic-Parmesan Melting Cabbage. Eating Well recipe.

Has garlic, cream cheese (I'm using mascarpone), grated parmesan, onion, fresh fennel seed. It's cooked in reduced broth (chicken or vegetable).

To go with it, half a cheddar-jalapeno bagel.

Ginger kombucha.

Earl Grey tea and a melon slice plus a cookie for dessert.

I had some tomato/garlic/basil sauce to use up, added onions, mushrooms garlic, pesto, diced pepperoni, and a can of white meat chicken.

Angel hair pasta, topped with some shredded Mozarella, sauce and Parmesan.

Just what I needed.

We had planned to have dinner with an elderly friend when my son and his girlfriend asked to meet him. Of course, I had to invite them for dinner. Then, out of the blue, a friend of my wife's called to say she was in town so she's joining us, too. Here's my plan.

Appetizers
A bowlful of mixed pitted olives.
Sliced Italian bread & butter
Tapinade

Entree
Boneless NY strip steaks, broiled
Fresh cheese raviolis with marinara sauce topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Caesar salad
Chianti

Dessert
Slices of pears and plums marinated in brandy
Pirouette coocies
Coffee/Decaf/Tea

Classic.

NJCher, your cabbage looks terrific! Your garden must be something special.
