What's for Dinner, Mon., Oct. 14, 2024

Broccoli rabe and pasta with lots of garlic and olive oil!
Plenty of freshly ground black pepper, too.

One of my fave dishes.

Kombucha: ginger.

Dessert: Cantalope, if the one I buy shortly is ripe. Vanilla ice cream with it.

For the first time, this week will see our first hard freeze. If we can get a little rain, I'm hopeful for a glorious tree color change around election day or earlier!

Because I'm already cold enough to have put on a sweater here in the house, I'm going to make some soup tonight. I had a massive shopping trip yesterday to the grocery store. Takes a lot of creativity to put meals for three out every night for 3 weeks, after your husband has fallen into the scammers trap and given away everything in the bank account! So, of course, all my pantry essentials were depleted, as was mosts every cold thing. But it was so good to replenish my pantry knowing there was money in the bank to cover it, finally.

So tonight, I'm going to make what my Dad called "slumgummy" (that's how WE spelled it, anyway!). It's an Italian-based hamburger vegetable soup with yummy beef stock. I've sent hubby up to Dillons for a loaf of good dipping bread and some butter. Had him take the phone, just in case his memory slips as to what he was suppose to get, or to call if he needs advice on the bread. (I'm a bread FIEND) In one of my moves, I lost my bread machine, and oh! how I dearly miss it!!! (sigh)

My fibro is flaring thanks to the extreme shopping trip. I didn't get to sleep "last night" until 9:30 this morning. It was an awful night of pain with only tylenol to try to help. If you have any to spare, I could some strong energy shot in my direction in order to make this soup. Standing upright is a "win" for me right now...

My house is early American thrift store/rummage sale! Lol

The soup came out delicious, but I can't even keep water on my stomach. Not fair!
