What's for Dinner, Wed., Nov. 20, 2024

For an appetizer: cucumber and green pepper slices topped with shrimp salad. Also a sprig of dill and a twist of lemon juice.

Main dish is Sweet Roasted Date Flatbread. The flatbreads are topped with pesto, small pieces of prosciutto, goat cheese, and dates. Also Kalamata olives. Cook in the air fryer.

Dessert: Well, nothing, actually because I already had it.

Chocolate silk pie. Hot mug of tea.

For an appetizer: White sturgeon caviar served with toast, chopped red onion, lemon and chopped hard-boiled egg.

Main dish is pan-fried fresh catfish. Coated with egg and bread crumbs, two times, the filets will be sautéed in olive oil, butter and white wine. On the side we’ll have home fries and steamed broccoli.

Dessert: Well, something! Strawberry glacé with slices of fresh strawberries.

Brandy, ice water and gummies then bed.

We found a fish market in Liberty, NY. It’s fantastic! The proprietor drives to Hunts Point in the Bronx a couple of times a week and his stock is impressive, fresh and reasonable. We’ll be shopping there often.

We hope you have happy plans for Thanksgiving.

The First Mate will be Linus on the Peanuts float in the Macy’s parade.

It was almost two years ago that we met up on Solomon’s Island. Let’s make it happen again.

radio station plays 'fan favorite' @ 8, so may have Beeth's 9th, OR Dvorak New World with me.

Yes, let's make it happen again; SO want you to see my 'hangout!' (Windstorm expected tonight, so got candles and flashlights out.)

HOPE to remember to watch for Linus; will tell the 'kids' that Linus is REALLY a friend this year, more than ever!

I went to the herbalist today. Got some tinctures and some mugwort. Used some of the mugwort in my soup. Also, a tea and I am soaking my feet in it too! lol
So versatile!

Garnished with a few shrimp. On the side, a chopped cucumber salad. At least, that's what we “leftovers” had.

Our daughters and their men left for an all night trip with 50 of their friends on a chartered 737-300 headed for Male, with refueling stops in Tbilisi, Georgia, and then again somewhere in India. I don’t know what kind of food they ordered for the flight(s), but I doubt it consisted of pretzels and mini bags of potato chips. Our younger daughter and her S.O. are celebrating his 50th birthday this weekend “in style,” and it’s something they have learned how to do. My wife and I are acting as baby-sitters for the four grandchildren here in the Taunus hills (Königstein, to be exact), each one of which is a handful on their own. My daughter has a Polish nanny who comes over, but she won’t be here over the weekend. If we’ve been institutionalized by Monday, you’ll know why.

5. Split Pea Veggie Soup

Cook green split peas in veggie broth, water and bay leaf. While peas are cooking steam-fry chopped celery, green pepper, carrots, parsnips and garlic until soft. When peas are fully cooked and the broth has thickened, add the cooked veggies, fresh chopped parsley and salt and pepper to taste. Served with a few dollops of sweet/sour cabbage that we add to our bowls of soup as a condiment…a Polish tradition. Toasted sprouted multigrain bread and a nice Chardonnay will compliment the deliciousness. Cheers! 🥂
Dessert is a blueberry chia pudding.
