So, I am thinking of installing a bat house to help with mosquitos

and they are facing extinction, and the bugs....did I mention the bugs?

I have less than a quarter acre in a suburb near the water. My house faces north, so the back yard faces South and they say Southeast or South is the best place for them

Has anyone ever done this before? I've already found out that the little one chamber boxes they sell at Home Depot is most likely inadequate.

I think I want to have this mounted on my chimney, but I am concerned about guano. So then I considered my shed, but I am not sure whether it is high enough off the ground for them.

When I was a child in the 60s and 70s, us kids would hang out into the evening until the bats came out. We would talk about the usual...watch out about getting tangled in your hair stuff.

I don't think I've seen bats since then. I've never thought about them unless on PBS, or something like it.

I cannot give you advice, but I like your thinking and wish you success with this.
