I have a very large and heavy Radio Flyer wagon that I use rarely for moving anything but I do keep potted tomato plants in it in the summer. I want to drill a drainage hole in it. What's the cheapest kind of drill that could do this job? I don't currently own any kind of drill. I tried pounding a large nail through the bottom of it -- no dice.
Thanks in advance!

(30,159 posts)If you buy a drill, you will find infinite uses for it. I would suggest a battery operated with enough power to drill a hole and to screw things into the wall. Make sure it fits your hand and is the right weight. Spend some time at the local hardware or online store and check them out.
I have owned many and I finally bought a really good tool and it is a dream.

(13,708 posts)I see your point, but the fact that this is pretty heavy duty metal and the likelihood of me needing anything that strong again is slim to none. I might ask at the local ACE, but I suspect they will want to sell me something that's more than I need.
Thanks.

(21,320 posts)First, how old is this wagon? If its old, find out if its worth anything.
Now, for the drill part:
A drill can refer to two things: the drill motor and the drill bit.
If all you need is the bit, any drill bit designed for metal would work. Just ask at any hardware store.
But if you need to buy the drill motor, why not just throw it in your trunk and drive to practically any kind of shop that works with tools
local mechanic, next door neighbor, etc, and just ask if they could drill a hole for you. I cant imagine anyone asking for more than a couple bucks for that.

I've thought about asking the fellow across the street who has a working wood shop in the garage. That will have to wait for the Christmas rush to be over -- he makes fine game boards to sell on etsy. Oh wait -- Xmas rush might soon be over.
