In NE anyway. Anyone else experiencing this?
Thought once we had the money set aside and could pick what we wanted it would be fun to redo a kitchen in the new old house we just moved into.
Online stores lie about delivery. They promise dates that are bogus - months away from when they said. Going to a big box store just as bad. Was told it would be at least a month for the dishwasher I want. And online ratings make things worse cuz everyone wants the best products. Even if an appliance is made in US - they depend on parts from abroad.
And it snowballs cuz you have to line up plumbers and electricians. As it stands now we'll have a counter cut out for a stovetop we might not get until November.

GREAT find. These guys now do all the work for our condo association. They are reasonable, reliable, do quality work. And are really nice guys.

(42,770 posts)Seems so different. Seems like everyone is way too busy and not very dependable. Constantly push times and days they're coming.

(22,972 posts)Big Box stores rely on heavy volume and low wage employees. Locals have an incentive to provide better service to attract a customer base and to maintain repeat customers

(249 posts)from a local appliance store, with right side door hinges to fit our 100 year old house plumbing. This was during the covid shut down. It was supposed to take 3 months, after a few calls from store to the manufacturer, we finally got it delivered 7 months after ordering. It wasn't balanced correctly, they came out and fixed it immediately the same day. The closest other official vendor was 4 hours away. It was worth the wait to shop local.
