laser level instructions

first laser level! woo hoo modern tech! here are the instructions as a pdf -

https://www.johnsonlevel.com/Content/files/Manuals/40-0915%20English-Spanish-French.pdf

question is about the part labeled "rear leveling foot adjustment" - how does it work? what is its function? it is labeled, but there is no other info. WTF?

edit - I see in the instructions also something labeled "crosscheck vial" that does not have any related instructions or explanation.
edit again - figured out what crosscheck vial is - calibration for the bubble level part.

It is probably an extended foot that raises and lowers so that you can adjust the unit to be level sitting on an unlevel surface. The laser coming out of it is only level if the level itself is level. I know that was confusing.

I bought this one a few years ago and I use the shit out of it. Much more useful than I imagined it would be. It is self levelling provided you get it within a few degrees of plumb. I mount it on my photography tripod and use it all the time. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0793M6Z37/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I think you are right, it probably adjusts for if the level is sitting on something not level but it is such a small amount...it is a cheapo so I guess that is it. the missing instructions are kind of irritating though! why include the part, label it and not explain how it works?

They are used to calibrate the laser with the adjustment screw.

is that in the instructions I posted? I don't see calibration instructions?

this is a cheap, low end product.

They are absolutely essential for precisely calibrating the laser with the adjustment screw. Without them, achieving the perfect laser alignment would be nearly impossible, leading to a world of frustration and subpar results. These components are the unsung heroes, making sure everything is perfectly dialed in with laser-like precision!
