(4,986 posts)I spent 7 years in south central Missouri in a sparsely populated area. Once upon a time there were several. Now mostly gone even their buildings. The only traces are the daffodils that were planted around the homesteads. Every spring, as you drive through those hills you can see exactly where people once lived. The daffodils mark those places where who cared planted them.

(24,145 posts)I had super-sweet smelling little narcissus in Feb. every year. Didn't matter that it was still winter in the mountains. The lady who lived there two owners ago, had strewn bulbs along all the paths she walked. They really multiplied.

It has been closed, like other fabulous flower sites, due to hordes of visitors, too many of them not respecting how fragile the flowers are and trampling them to get the "perfect shot".
The hill remains beloved.
