Still having difficulties letting go, but trying to be strong for my wife and other two daughters.

My eldest has been gone about 40 years (well, okay, three weeks) and I'm missing her terribly. Skype helps. Fortunately she's keeping her blog up to date so that's a quick way to connect despite the six hour time difference. "If you love something, set it free..."

We get to see her maybe twice a year--if we are lucky. Thankfully, she when she does make her yearly trip home, she can stay for several weeks, because she works online.

You get used to it. She is in her 30s so has been out of the nest for a while. But still it would be nice to see her more often. Facebook keeps us connected somewhat.

8. She has a cell phone but it costs something like a million dollars a minute for overseas calls.

Skype is free. Facebook is tedious. Her dog is having the roughest time. I'm sure she knew this was different than just "going back to college". With Skype, she can see Krysi and she turns back into the puppy she was almost ten years ago. We let them have their time together.

They have Skype Out and Skype To Go which are pretty reasonable. I also have international calling with my Tracfone cell phone account. You call them with an 800 number and they connect you for the same rate as a domestic call--that is, whatever you paid for your minutes. (this is a prepaid phone account).

The sound is better than some cell phone connections I get herre in the states!
