Or if you care about someone who parents an adopted child, Id be interested in your opinion. A nasty young teen in a Hallmark movie called, The Town Christmas Forgot tries to hurt her brothers feelings within the first 3 mins of the beginning by saying: Didn't Mom ever tell you they adopted you?!
As a parent who adopted, I was flabbergasted and hurt that Hallmark let this pass the editing process. No family with an adopted child could watch that and not feel sucker punched when the girl uses adoption as an insult. I called Hallmark Movies and the person on the phone acted like she cared. I urged them to edit this out. But they have continued to run the movie- unchanged. I have wracked my brain on how to pressure Hallmark to care about the well-being of adoptive families and get rid of that insult in their movie. My attempts have failed thus far. So, I turn to you, DU!!!!! Is there anyone who will join me by complaining that they tolerate that line, violating the spirit of their supposedly family-friendly Christmas movies. No adopted child should ever hear that line spoken as an insult!!! Adoption is not a thing that should be used against someone!! Thank you.

(38,958 posts)I did adopt the daughter of my Charming Ex- Wife The Dragon 🐉 Lady and it was not a good experience from my point of view so Im not the best person to offer a perspective.
I can only suggest the following:
1). Contact them again directly.
2). Post your comments to their Facebook page and other social media sites.
3). Re-post this with more specific details and links to contact Hallmark in the appropriate groups here and other discussion boards you might visit.
4). Let your family and friends know your thoughts and ask them to support your efforts.
5). Contact companies advertising on Hallmark with your concerns.
6). Contact any National Adoptive Parenting groups with your complaints.
Best of luck.

(26,607 posts)as well as my husband's older brother and sister.
Because of the cousins, I just always considered adoption just another way of having a family. They were my cousins just as much as the other cousins. My husband also had two biological brothers, and as far as I was concerned they were all my in-laws.
