Tabby cuddle

The boys and I fell asleep on the recliner (I'm a tiny bit under the weather) and I woke up to see the babies in a cuddle of their own. It's just so nice that Carys is finally hanging out with the rest of us, even if it is still a bit distant from me. Well, during the day. At night she cuddles right up with me.

1. Ember is also a night time cuddler

who does not cuddle in the daytime. She is fine with being near me in the daytime and will even rub her face against mine if I'm seated at my desk so that our faces are level with each other.

But she will not sit in my lap. Does not like to be held, either, and scoots away the minute that she detects a sign in my body language that I am going to lift her up.

2. Carys likes to drape herself over my arm.

One night it was my throat, which was less than comfortable for me.

4. Similar cat, Walker (never runs or climbs; only walks) was homeless about ten years ago and showed

up looking awful. We fed him, and have continued to this day. He will not come inside and will not let me pick him up, but he is polite and sweet. Husband built him an insulated wood box with a fluffy blanket and propped on legs. As long as he is in his box-house, I can pet, massage, and tickle him.

6. Rescue Coco HATES being picked up.

She was in a severe accident before we found her, both legs had been broken and didn't heal right. She had numerous other issues, but we have nursed her back to the best health she can have as a 14 year old with previous grievous injuries. So, anyway, she's a grump and does not like other animals. After 4 years with the dog, she just now will refrain from swatting him if he gets near sometimes. I often have to escort the dog out of the room because he won't leave if she's near the door. Big 65 lb. dog is afraid of 7 lb. little Coco. If we pick her up, she fights us. She loves us and usually wants to be in our laps, or lying besides us if we're in bed, but it has to be on her terms.

3. She's getting big. How old is she now? And how old is Arthur?

5. Arthur was born in April

We think Carys is probably about 4 months old, now.

8. They are all real treasures

I never, ever saw myself as a multi cat mom, but here I am. Four indoor and about 9 ferals that I feed.

They are the reason I start smiling as soon as I wake up. And I'm probably smiling as I fall asleep because some, if not all, are snuggled up, all warm and toasty.

And except for Carys, they are all very friendly with anyone who visits. The boys just LOVE people.

10. Aww. Precious kitties.

My family has been into cat rescue for decades. We started taking in strays in the early 70s, when I was a kid. Every single one turned out to be sweet and loving and affectionate -- sure, some more than others, but still ... "aloof cat" stereotype does not apply. I think it's because we've always known how to interact and communicate with them (fluent in kitty body language and vocalization meanings). I like having at least three kitties at all times, and preferably four. Right now we have three plus a neighbor kitty who prefers to hang out in our house during the day.
