If I won the lottery

I'd run a doggie rescue. Get them their shots, treatment, shelter all I could. I have a place near Seligman, just would need to contract a veterinarian, isolate the new intakes, evaluate, salvage, adopt out the graduates.
I'm contracted for work until spring in the Northeast Arizona Navajo reservation.
Even when driving through this portion of Az/western New Mexico the number of homeless pups disturbs me deeply. I find myself wishing I could do more.
One of my past fur companions was the sweetest heeler mix rescue, salvaged in time, no heartworms, was a great companion for 12 years thereafter.

everything you can on whatever you can do to restore the animals' health w/o much reliance on vet care. Yes, you need to align with a vet, but unless you assume responsibility for the healing the bulk of your donations will go to the vet. This avenue will take you into the alternative therapy realm.

It is very rewarding work what you are contemplating but the abuse against all animals is horrific so you need to be able to keep helping and healing and not let the abuse you see overcome the good that you can bring out in the animals.

Namaste

Some months ago I wanted to donate to a "critter charity," posted here, and searched the net. One source's best charities list:

ASPCA

Animal Welfare Institute

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

International Fund for Animal Welfare

Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee

Best Friends Animal Society

Mountain Humane

Alley Cat Allies

The Marine Mammal Center

I've given to 3 of these, as well as my local animal shelter. My dearest friends and I have said that if we ever come into a large sum of $, a huge chunk of it will go to helping critters.

Betty White and others like her are my heroes.
