I finally found a dry food that ALL of the fur babies like. Perhaps too much

They were JUMPING on me, this morning. I fed them early, just to get some peace.

I've been buying lots of different brands. I tried higher end foods, both wet and dry, and they turned up their noses. It was just like I was throwing away money. Well, except for Arthur who does love his Nutro pate. They like things like the Kit and Kaboodle that I sometimes buy for the outdoor kitties and Friskies wet food.

Well, Gryff doesn't really like wet food so I sometimes mix it with the kibble. He's 'OK' with that.

So I picked up some Friskies chicken flavored kibble with 'meaty' centers, and BINGO. I'll just mix it in with the other kibble I bought.

That's what I would have bought, anyway, just in case they didn't like it. I've made that mistake, before.

My plan is to check Chewy to see if they have this particular one in big bags.

I try and mix it up too.
My cats are not too fussy, but they will not eat the same wet or dry food for an extended period.
I buy different varieties and mix them together.

11. It's called 'Tender Centers' and I just realized I grabbed the wrong bag from the shelf!!

This is a beef/salmon 'flavoring' combo. That explains a lot because they do love beef wet food. I figured out that sea food wasn't causing Arthur's little butt swelling, via a process of food elimination (pardon the pun). It's still a mystery but it seems to have resolved.

I tried the combo one, too. They liked it but not enough to jump on me so I'd wake up and feed them. I'm thinking about buying it, again, and mixing it with the tender centers one. I know I can get that in the big bag.

I have some catnip infused treats for them. Not to say that they love them but after I put the jar away, they start searching the WHOLE area to see if they maybe missed one.

I've even tried 'Blue Buffalo'.

When they were kittens they would eat 'Chicken Soup For the Soul' chicken and brown rice kitten food and Fancy Feast for kittens. I bought some adult Chicken Soup wet food and they wouldn't touch it.

Of course, they won't eat '9 Lives' either so I just stick to Friskies.

13. I used to feed my cats...

A mix of wet food with some brewer's yeast and a dash of olive oil, a few bites of kibble and a couple spoons of hot water from the kettle. That was the wet food, kibble was usually the Purina plain old stuff. For treats I would gat something Hills made that was good for their teeth, kind of large-ish chunks, put it in a treats can and they thought they were getting spoiled.

Mikey has a different diet. He eats Friskies wet food and Purina dry food... and a variety of small rodents. I tried to give him a Harmony brand wet food and he threw it up. So I stick with what he'll eat, like his other mom does.

Finding something that one cat will eat can be a challenge, several, yikes. You're a good kitty mom.

14. I don't know what I'd have done, over the past few years, without these fur babies.

During the pandemic lock down they kept me busy. And sane. Not to mention the satisfaction in finding loving homes for the rest of the rescues.

And every tiny step of progress with the ferals can have me smiling, all day long.

19. A Mixed Bag

I'm constantly amazed at the amount of brands I've tried for my various kitties over the years. My small feral colony eats what I give them which is typically a dry form of Meow Mix along with Friskies wet. The indoors vary greatly because of different health issues and eating habits. If I tallied up the amount of money spent on food, I could buy a car!!

20. My outdoor fur babies aren't at all fussy.

Neither is Carys, but then she was dining with the outdoor crowd until she was 4 months old. She gobbles down what every I give her.

I should look up some recipes for home made cat food.

And I'm lucky to have these kitties. They bring me so much happiness.

I have done rescue with cats and have not had any cats refuse that food. It is good quality.

Fancy Feast has a new cat treat which they are marketing. Fancy Feast Savory Puree Naturals in 4 0.35 oz. sachets. It's pretty expensive at $3.49 per package of four but the supermarkets are promoting it as a "buy one -- get one free." My kitty really likes this treat.

I really try to avoid feeding them anything with dyes and it's hard. I also often mix a few brands together, but she likes Purina naturals best. I figure a little bit is ok, like a treat, but I avoid eating anything with dyes so I do the same for my animals.

They have a chicken one and a tuna one as well. I'm going to pick up some more today at the supermarket while they are on sale.
You can actually open the end and slowly squeeze the puree treat out and the kitty will lick it like a popsicle. I put it on top of the dry cat food and the kitty will come running for it.
Oddly, canned tuna is also on sale at 79 cents a can -- it's cheaper than cat food.
