2. The last few mornings I've just seen Scooter and Tabby

When I'd go out to check the bowls, there would be food left so I started to worry.

This morning wasn't QUITE a full house. I didn't see Spooky. I haven't seen Skittish and her other tabby offspring in a couple of weeks.

I'm just happy that the ones who are still hanging around come out and start eating while I'm still filling bowls.

I don't always see mine either, but as it turns out, there are a couple of other neighbors with hearts who feed them.

3. Our male feral rescue cat has a twin.

I'd never seen the twin around our house until the last week and now I've seen him staring in our front picture window twice! Both times were in the early evening and he was crouched down behind a stump so I couldn't see if it was twin or Foggy - who is not supposed to be out at night! Twice I ran outside calling and then realized he wasn't my boy when he ran away. I'm putting Foggy's collar back on so I can tell the difference. They are totally identical looking, just very different personalities.

6. It wouldn't surprise me

Skittish is a striped tabby with no white markings. Tabby looks just like her mom. Arthur's mom is Spooky but I don't think there are any family ties between Skittish and Spooky.

I never saw this particular tabby as a kitten so I have no idea of its background.

I'm thinking about creating a picture board of the different felines so I can definitely identify a new arrival.

I was wondering if there was enough age difference that he could be Arthur's dad. It's hard to tell.

13. Since cats mate indiscriminately by human standards,

they might be related. A group of ferals who hang around together might be intermating so that some of them become related. Kind of like people in small villages in the past, before the ability to travel long distances easily. Eventually the village members became related.

But, on the other hand, some coat patterns in cats are common enough that they show up in cats that are not related, like tabby and white, tabby with no white, cats with heart shapes in their fur, spots, broken stripes. So unrelated cats can look similar.

12. I have a similar issue.

Since moving into my former church, present theater, there's been a cute little grey tabby hanging around, mooching. Needless to say, I provide food and shelter. He's a tiny little guy, obviously not neutered. His "male endowments" are so enormous, I can't help but wonder how he sits down. Hence, I named him "Devises" after the famous young man in the limerick. Recently, I discovered two things about him.
1. He actually has a home two doors down from me, and is just mooching.
2. There are two of him. A few weeks ago, he showed up with his twin brother, identical in ALL respects. This explains how he could eat so much. Since there is no way to tell them apart, I just refer to them collectively by that poetic name, and individually and indiscriminately as "Devises or Not Devises".
And now, they've brought their black sister with them. Think I'll call her Pirate Jenny.
